Responding to customer feedback, Volkswagen has bolstered the payload and towing capacities of the new Transporter. The maximum payload now stands at 1.33 tonnes, an increase of 0.13 tonnes from its predecessor. Additionally, the towing capacity has been elevated to 2.8 tonnes, up from the previous 2.5 tonnes, enabling users to haul heavier loads with confidence.

Diverse Powertrain Options

The new models offer a range of powertrain choices to suit different preferences and requirements:

  • Turbodiesel (TDI): Three 2.0-liter four-cylinder TDI engines are available, delivering outputs of 81 kW (110 PS), 110 kW (150 PS), and 125 kW (170 PS). The 125 kW variant comes standard with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, while the 110 kW model offers an optional automatic transmission. All-wheel drive (4MOTION) is available for TDI models starting from 110 kW.

  • Plug-in Hybrid (eHybrid): Combining a TDI engine with an electric motor, the eHybrid system produces a total output of 171 kW (232 PS). This setup includes a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and front-wheel drive, offering a balance between performance and fuel efficiency.

  • All-Electric (e-Transporter and e-Caravelle): For those prioritizing zero-emission driving, the electric variants come with outputs ranging from 85 kW (115 PS) to 210 kW (286 PS). Equipped with rear-wheel drive, these models feature a net battery capacity of up to 64 kWh, providing substantial range for urban and suburban use.
